April 30th 2016, will be evergreen in my memory, because it allowed me to see Nature at its best. Hidden in the scenic Tri-Valley regions, accessable from San Francisco, and other nearby cities.The name "Filoli "was chosen by its original owner, and was derived by using the first two letters from the key words of his credo "Fight for the cause, Love your fellow man, Live a good life".
A Little bit of History:
This fabulous piece of estate( 654 acres) was aquired by Mr and Mrs Bourn II, , who lived here between 1917 to 1936, the estate was then sold to Mr and Mrs William P.Roth in 1937. In 1975, Mrs Roth donated the estate to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Today this property is open to public from February to October, with the help of more than 1000 volunteers.
Descripton of the House and Land:
The enormous house has 49 rooms and contains 36,000 sq ft of interior floor surface, two floos and a mezzanine. The spacious major rooms have a high ceiling of 17.5 with the exception of a ballroom that had a ceiling of 22.5 ft high.There are 44 rooms, including 9 family bedrooms, 17 bathrooms and 17 fireplaces.The floorplan is U shaped with servants wing on one side of the front courtyard and Ballroom on the other.

The Garden area surrounds the building beautifully, and are prominently categorized into Orchards,Courtyard, Sunken Garden, Walled Garden,Yew Alle, Pear Alle, Green house, The Roses, Camelias, Sweet Peas, Irises, Daffodils, Fruit trees,Olive garden and herb garden are all fabulous and serve as eye candy and gives pleasure to your soul.
